In Courtice, The Setting Stone Company does driveway paving in interlock, asphalt and concrete, for homes in Worden, Hancock and Emily Stowe, new lots as Southeast Courtice grows, and properties along Highway 2.
Your address decides who you deal with. An entrance off a Regional road goes through the Region of Durham, not Clarington, so check this if you are on Courtice Main Street, along Durham Highway 2. Homes on local streets, from Worden to Bayview, apply to Clarington for a private entrance permit. We work out which office handles your driveway at the site visit, so nobody applies to the wrong one.

Southeast Courtice is a major expansion of about 295 hectares, and about half of Bayview’s plan area is unbuilt land, so a driveway here may go in over recently moved ground. CMHA, the paver association, calls compacting the soil underneath critical and says driveway bases should reach at least 98% of standard Proctor density. We excavate, compact the soil, lay geotextile fabric and build the granular base in layers, then grade water away from the foundation.

Single detached houses and townhouses have different width limits in Clarington, so we plan each one on its own. We pave in interlock, asphalt or concrete, here and across Durham Region.

Courtice Main Street runs roughly 4 km along Durham Highway 2, from Townline Road to Courtice Road, so homes on that stretch should ask first whether their entrance goes to the Region of Durham. On a local street, Clarington requires a private entrance permit to cut a curb, widen a driveway, or install or replace a culvert.
Properties east of Farewell Creek have deeper lots, which makes extra parking tempting, but a parking area other than the driveway itself cannot sit closer than 1 metre to the street line. Requirements can change, so confirm for your address first. We advise on this as part of the quote.
Bayview's plan shows townhouses along Bloor Street. Clarington caps townhome driveways at 3 to 4 metres, so a widening has less room.
A third-party contractor does the work, and it may not be inspected or completed from October 1 to March 31. Apply early.
By-law 84-63 counts a surfaced walk up to 200 mm above finished grade as landscaped open space. Driveways do not count.
Tim's own crew works from Wharf Street in Bowmanville, with no subcontracted labour, and leaves your site clean after a final walkthrough.

Clarington's rules cap driveways on single-detached and semi-detached homes at 4.5 to 6 metres, based on lot size and garage width, and Zoning By-law 84-63 can restrict that further. Townhomes, such as those along Bloor Street in Bayview, get 3 to 4 metres. A widening cannot reduce the boulevard's soft landscaping below 40 per cent. Bayview's built streets are primarily single detached houses, so the wider range usually applies there, and we measure at the free visit.
Southeast Courtice is a major expansion, planned for about 5,000 units, so start by asking your builder what is left to finish on the lot. CMHA, the paver association, calls compacting the soil underneath critical, so before paving we look at how the ground has behaved and compact it properly. If you need a curb cut too, plan around Clarington's October 1 to March 31 window, when cuts may not be inspected or completed.
Sometimes, but limits apply. Under Zoning By-law 84-63, a parking area other than the driveway itself cannot sit closer than 1 metre to the street line, and the width cap on the driveway still stands. Clarington also wants driveways at least 7 metres apart to keep on-street parking. We tell you what your lot allows, from a Bloor Street townhouse to a deeper lot east of Farewell Creek.
That depends on the joint sand. Techniseal's data sheet for its SmartSand product allows vehicles after 48 to 72 hours, and the sand needs temperatures above 0 C for 48 hours to cure. Other polymeric sands have their own limits, so we tell you what applies when we finish your interlock pavers.
A paved driveway's cost depends on its size, the material, the base work and what must come out first. On a new lot in Southeast Courtice or Bayview, the condition of the ground can matter as much as the surface. A figure over the phone would be a guess, so we come out for free, measure, and send a clear, itemized quote.
